Sustainable distribution: introduction
The Sustainable Distribution Strategy provides a framework to deliver a modern, efficient freight transport system across all modes. Its objectives include minimising congestion, making better use of the transport infrastructure, minimising pollution and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, managing development pressures on the landscape, and reducing noise and disturbance from freight movements.
These objectives are achieved by working in partnership with the freight industry through raising standards and promoting best practice.
