Life jackets lights model Rescue Dan M1 manufactured by Daniamant ApS in the Kingdom of Denmark


On the 14 March 2012 the European Commission issued an opinion on interim measures taken by the government of Germany in respect of life jackets lights model Rescue Dan M1, from batches No. FP08 and No. BA139 manufactured by Daniamant ApS in the Kingdom of Denmark (2012/C 76/o1).

These lights were approved by Lloyd’s Register under the following numbers:

•EC Type Examination Certificate (module B) No MED 0850012, issued on 15 January 2008,  and

•Assurance Certificate (Module D) No MED 0950153, issued on 14 June 2009

and the following Declaration of Conformity were issued:

•No MED 0600035 for batch No FP08, issued on 7 April 2008, and

•No MED 0950153 for batch No BA139, issued on 14 June 2009.

The European Commission recommends Member States remove the above mentioned life jackets lights from ships flying their flag as it was found they did not meet the applicable test requirements. Please click here (715kb bmp) to see attached full text of the subject opinion.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency requests that in the interest of safety, life jackets lights Rescue Dan M1 manufactured by Daniamant ApS in the Kingdom of Denmark are checked. If found they are part of the batches No. FP08 and No. BA139 they should be replaced by other lights fulfilling requirements of Article 5(1) of Directive 96/98/EC.
