FIRE-FIGHTER’S OUTFIT

It has been brought to our attention by the Italian Maritime Administration that there has been an incident of forged certification in relation to the Fire-Fighter’s Outfit – Protective clothing type “STARK”

This safety alert applies to Fire-Fighter’s outfit – type “STARK” – manufactured by TACCONI S.p.a (Italy).

In accordance with the Marine Equipment Directive (MED) Article 13.1 the Italian Maritime Administration has informed European Member States that the above product has been discovered onboard ships with counterfeit certification showing an expiry date of 15th October 2008 after its EC TYPE EXAMINATION (MODULE B) CERTIFICATE expired on 15th October 2005. The Italian administration has ordered the replacement of this  type of Fire-Fighter’s outfit on Italian flagged ships.

ACTION: Owners, Operators, Masters and crews of any UK registered vessels which placed a “STARK” Fire-Fighter’s outfit onboard after 15th October 2005 should arrange for them to be replaced as soon as practicable.

THE MCA WILL EXPECT THIS WITHIN ONE MONTH OF THE ISSUE OF THIS SAFETY ALERT.
