Fishing Safety: 15 -24 metre Code Group The fishing industry has changed since regulations were formulated 25 years ago, yet culture and tradition still play a part in creating the conditions in which accidents occur. A new user-friendly framework of regulations will be prepared with the focus on the operator being best placed to assess the risks of their fishing operation. The Regulations are the MS The Fishing Vessels (Safety of 15-24 Metre Vessels) Regulations 2002. The MSN is 1770 (F), which came into force on 23 November 2002. Terms of Reference To review the Code following two years of it coming into force. To consider suggestions or amendments to the Code that result in it being more user friendly or straightforward. To consider any evidence or data that the Code has started to have an effect on improving safety of these vessels. To report agreed recommendations to FISG. Background The aim in developing this Code is to set appropriate safety standards for all those on board UK fishing vessels.
