Meeting your needs

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA), as the UK’s Flag State Administration, is responsible for the implementation of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code within the UK merchant fleet. MCA does not delegate this responsibility to any recognised organisation and conducts all ISM Code audits itself.


What are ISO 9000 and ISO 14000

ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 are standards that relate to maximising quality (ISO 9000) and minimising environmental impact (ISO 14000) by implementing documented management systems.

ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 focus on how an organisation manages its processes. They set out the requirements that the management system must fulfil so that the company’s processes meet minimum standards on product quality and environmental impact.


Scope of certification

MCA QA  offers assessment against;

  • Water transport;
  • Cargo handling and storage;
  • Other supporting water transport activities;
  • Travel agents operated by shipping companies;
  • Food and beverages (hotels and resturants).
