Second Informal Consultation on amending: The Merchant Shipping (Inland Waterway and Limited Coastal Operations) (Boatmasters’ Qualifications and Hours of Work) Regulations 2006

A breakdown and sample of the responses received to each question is available below:

Question 1A    Is a Tier 2 Level 2 BML sufficient for operations between Teddington Lock and Putney Bridge?

Question 1B    Should Tier 2 qualifying service times (QST) be determined by examiners on a case by case basis as per existing T2 requirements or should QT be specified within the Regulations?

Question 8A    Do you think the Port of London local knowledge area should be extended down to Lower Hope Point?

Question 31A    Do you agree that masters undertaking specialist operations on fast craft should be required to obtain a fast craft plus a specialist operations endorsement?

Question 31B    Should masters holding a fast craft endorsement, also undertaking another specialist operation be issued with separate endorsements upon revalidation based on proof of service?  If so, would 30 days in the last 5 years prove they had the skills and experience needed?
