THREE ANGLERS RESCUED FROM SEA NEAR RIVER AXE MOUTH

This morning at 6.00 am the angling vessel Sam, from Seaton, came across three people in the water and a sinking 16ft sports angling boat. The three had been out on a fishing expedition near the River Axe mouth, when their vessel had overturned and begun to sink. The crew of Sam recovered the casualties from the water who were cold and wet but unharmed. read more..

76 YEAR OLD MAN RESCUED OFF CLIFFS

At 2.05 pm, a 76 year old male walker contacted the Police via the 999 system to report being trapped on a cliff somewhere west of Manorbier. The police tasked a unit along with their helicopter Police 12 to investigate and relayed the information to MRCC Milford Haven Coastguard. The Police managed to link the 999 call to the Coastguard and by questioning the gentleman further, the MRCC staff managed to establish the mans location as being between East Moor Cliff and Swanlake Bay. read more..

MCA BACKS TECHNOLOGY WITH ENERGY EFFICIENCY BENEFITS

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) announced today that it has submitted an information paper to the International Maritime Organizations Marine Environmental Protection Committee, on behalf of the UK Government, that shows possible average fuel and emissions savings of 9.1% when Fluoropolymer Foul Release (FFR) technology is used. This suggests current industry estimates of up to 5% savings may be an underestimation. read more..

Aberdeen Coastguard are currently coordinating the rescue of 14 crew members from a Danish registered fishing boat six miles off Fraserburgh after a fire was reported in her engine room. The helicopter, lifeboat and standby vessels that were sent to help are acting with caution due to the 40,000 litres of fuel on board the 38 metre vessel. read more..
