FAMILY RESCUED FROM CLIFFS AT CARSAIG
A family of four were rescued from the cliffs at Carsaig on the Isle of Mull this afternoon after the tide began coming in around them during a walk from Carsaig to Carsaig Arches. The two adults and two 11-year-old children became stuck after trying to climb the cliffs to escape the incoming tide – with the woman having to climb back down the cliffs and go back to the nearest village to raise the alarm. read more..

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency has begun a consultation about updating a European directive, Establishing a Community Vessel Traffic Monitoring and information System. HM Coastguard responded to 66 decompression illness and 32 rapid ascent incidents in 2010 according to the MCAs newly published diving report. Medical emergencies accounted for 32 incidents. WEAR SUITABLE FOOTWEAR ON COASTAL PATHS SAY COASTGUARD
A 17 year old youth from Pembroke Dock, who had been out fishing with a friend, was airlifted to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest earlier this afternoon. He had fallen on rocks while climbing out from a location between Barafundle Bay and Stackpole Quay. He was treated for a suspected broken leg by Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics. Milford Haven Coastguard requested St Govans and Tenby Coastguard Rescue Teams to assist. The air ambulance was requested to evacuate the youth. read more..
LOCAL BOATS GO TO THE AID OF BROKEN DOWN FISHING VESSEL
Clyde Coastguard has been assisting a fishing vessel and its three crew this afternoon after it broke down off Lagg Bay, Island of Jura. The Oban registered vessel Jaqueline Anne called Clyde Coastguard at 3.00 pm this afternoon after their starter motor failed. They were concerned that they were drifting towards the shore and were at risk of going aground. At one stage, they were within 175 yards of the shore. read more..

READY SET INFLATE EVENT BREAKS WORLD RECORD
Children and adults at Mudeford Quay, east Dorset helped to blow away the world record for life jacket inflations on 21 May as part of the worldwide Ready, Set, Inflate! day. The UKs event saw 64 people inflate lifejackets and the UK was in the top three worldwide for the most inflations at a single event. There were 99 Ready, Set, Inflate! events on 21 May in the USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Australia and the UK. read more..

Dover Coastguard requested the Dover and Walmer RNLI lifeboats to launch and the rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham to divert from a training exercise this evening after a conversation was heard on radio channel 16 about a collision between two motor cruisers in the Dover Strait.
