THREE RESCUED FROM ROCKS AND TWO FROM YACHT.
At ten minutes to three this afternoon, Humber Coastguard called out Coastguard teams from Redcar, Skinningrove and Staithes to a report of a woman trapped on the cliffs at Huntcliffe, near Redcar. The Redcar RNLI Lifeboats and a rescue helicopter were requested. The Lifeboats found the woman at the base of the cliff trapped by the tide but unhurt. At twenty minutes past five this evening, Swansea Coastguard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre received a 999 call from the local authority beach ranger reporting that he could see nine individuals trapped in mud three quarters of a mile offshore at Weston Super Mare. read more..
GROUP CUT OFF AFTER VISITING SCOLT ISLAND, NORTH NORFOLK
Yarmouth Coastguard have been working this evening to co-ordinate the rescue of 17 people (11 adults plus 6 children, including a three month old baby) and two dogs cut off at Scolt Head Island, a nature reserve. The island is on the North Norfolk coast, 10 km west of Wells-Next-The-Sea. The site is reached by a ferry from the village of Burnham Overy Staithe on the A149. The cut off individuals were all in summer clothes, although none were in immediate danger, as the sea rose around them. read more..
