Solent Coastguard has been requested to assist the Police this afternoon (1:40pm) with the search for a missing man. The man was last seen at approximately 2:00am this morning when leaving his friends boat which was moored on the River Itchen to return to his own boat moored on the same river, north of Northam, Southampton. read more..

COASTGUARD HOAXER FINED £2,500

A man who pleaded guilty to giving false information under The Communications Act was sentenced to a 12 week sentence suspended for 12 months, 200 hours of community service and £2,500 costs. He organised an elaborate hoax that tied up the resources of Newquay and Aberystwyth Coastguard Rescue Teams, RNLI lifeboats from Newquay, Aberystwyth and Cardigan, a rescue helicopter and police units from Dyfed Powys Constabulary for two and a half hours. read more..

ANGLER RESCUED FROM SEA AT ILFRACOMBE

At twenty minutes to one, today Swansea Coastguard received a 999 call from a lady reporting that she had just witnessed her husband who was angling off rocks at Broadstrand near Ilfracombe being swept into the sea. Due to poor telephone signal the call dropped out, but another man was able to make a second telephone call to the Coastguard giving further information. read more..

At half past three today Falmouth Coastguard received a 999 call reporting a small punt adrift on the River Fal, just south of the King Harry ferry. Further questioning of the caller revealed that the engine was down and there were full mussel bags on board. read more..
