HOAX SHOUTS FOR HELP PROMPT SEARCH IN TYNEMOUTH HARBOUR

At 16:38 this afternoon, Humber Coastguard received multiple conflicting 999 calls reporting someone screaming for help from the piers at Tynemouth Harbour Entrance. Humber Coastguard immediately paged South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade to search the south pier, Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade to search the north Pier and requested the launch of the Tynemouth RNLI Lifeboats to begin a search. read more..

SEARCH FOR TWO FOREIGN NATIONALS STOOD DOWN

Portland Coastguard called out search and rescue units at a quarter past one this morning after an injured male foreign national was found on the shore near the Swanage Chain Ferry. The man did not speak English, but Police enquiries ascertained that he claimed to have jumped from the cross-channel ferry Barfleur as the ship entered Poole Harbour, and that he had been with three other people who were still unaccounted for. read more..
