SEARCH RESUMES FOR MISSING MAN IN ARGYLL

Clyde Coastguard resumed a search this morning for a man reported missing at 1820 last night from Davaar Island near the Mull of Kintyre. The man was traveling along the Doirlinn, a causeway between Davaar Island and Campbeltown and had not reached his destination.

The search, involving Coastguard Rescue Teams (CRTs), lifeboats and a Rescue helicopter was stood down at 2200 due to the rising tide and resumed again at 0200 this morning. Shortly after the search began this morning the mans vehicle was located but the vehicle was empty.

The search is currently ongoing in the area for the missing man, and involves Campbeltown and Southend CRTs, Campbeltown Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats, Fishery Protection Vessel Minna, Mountain Rescue Teams, Strathclyde Police, a Police Helicopter and Rescue 177 Helicopter from HMS Gannet.

Clyde MRCC (Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre) Watch Manager Calum Murray said:

The search is currently ongoing to locate the man, reported missing via a 999 call to us at 1820 yesterday. A large number of search and rescue resources are involved in the search, which will be suspended at nightfall this evening.
