Weather and tides

The UK Hydrographic Office provide information on tides via their Admiralty Easy Tide service.

The Met Office provide information on the shipping forecast and gale warnings, as well as marine observations.

The MCA publish information for mariners about Maritime Safety Information (MSIs) and NAVTEX. NAVTEX broadcasts are in UTC. VHF/MF broadcasts are made from MRCCs in local time. Please see links below:

Please note the following amendments apply to the MSI Leaflet;

Holyhead broadcasts at 50 minutes past the hour, not 30 minutes as stated.

NAVTEX broadcasts of WZ navigation warnings from Oostende have changed from transmitter identification character M to V.

Following the closure of Clyde MRCC on the 18th December 2012, Belfast will be taking over its broadcast duties. The Belfast broadcast times should be replaced with the Clyde broadcast times.

Belfast will also take over Clyde in MF broadcasts and Inshore Forecast areas. Belfast's broadcasting aerials now include Rhustaffnish 10, South Knapdale 23, Kilchiaran, Clyde (Scroggie Bank) 84, and Lawhill 86. Stornoway's broadcasting aerials now include Torosay 10, Tiree 23, and Glengorm 84.

Following the closure of Yarmouth MRCC on the 1st May 2013, Humber will be taking over its broadcast duties. The times will remain the same as in the leaflet.

The leaflet itself will be corrected in due course, once all closures have been completed and a new MSI broadcast regime is in place.
