Sharing good practice and solutions

There is already a lot of good work going on across the highways maintenance sector in a wide range of areas. You’ll find a selection of these within Your Efficiency Stories.

But we’d still like to hear your efficiency suggestion, which can be either:

a) Promoting an example of existing good practice; showing how a problem was identified, resolved and demonstrating the benefits achieved.

b) Developing an efficiency proposal, where a problem has been identified but HMEP support is needed in developing a solution that will clearly demonstrate efficiency savings for the sector.

Please complete the appropriate form and then email it to HMEP at highwaysefficiency@dft.gsi.gov.uk. Once submitted your proposal will be assessed by the programme, including the Design Assurance Group who provide assurance that all HMEP activities realise the expected benefits and contribute to the objectives of the programme. A final decision will then be made by the HMEP Board on whether we want to take your proposal forward or not.

Please note that any application for HMEP endorsement or support for 'propriety' products or systems from private sector companies should have its application sponsored by a local highway authority (or ideally a group of such authorities). Unfortunately the programme cannot be seen to be promoting or endorsing commercial products.

However we are currently developing the HMEP Knowledge Hub and this will be the ideal platform to assist companies inform the sector of their products (new or otherwise). Further details on the HMEP Knowledge Hub will be made available once it is established.
