The Richard Ley Development Centre is a conference and training facility located in Swansea.
About the Richard Ley Development Centre (RLDC)
The RLDC is a modern and flexible conference venue equipped to host events and seminars for up to 240 people.
Our venue has a welcoming reception area and the convenience of a 130 space car park with 7 disabled bays. We also have an onsite café and free wifi.
The digital theatre
Ideal for conferences, seminars or large-scale presentations, the digital theatre can seat up to 240 people theatre style, or up to 96 people cabaret style.
This large flexible space is fully equipped with modern IT and audiovisual technology, including interactive audience voting.
Conference rooms and IT training suite
Our conference rooms offer flexibility in capacity and room configuration. Some of our rooms can be partitioned and all have a ceiling mounted projector with screen or a large LCD screen. The IT training suite has a fixed classroom layout with 12 PC workstations.
The café
The café is open from 8am until 3pm Monday to Friday and serves a selection of hot and cold snacks and drinks.
The zone
The zone is a circular room that is ideal for small workshops, problem solving and thought-provoking sessions. The curved walls double as whiteboards promoting participation, encouraging creative thinking and helps to generate innovative ideas.
Room layouts and facilities
With the exception of the raked seating in the digital theatre and the IT training suite, all training rooms have flexible layouts to meet your needs. The most common room setups are:
- classroom
- boardroom
- horseshoe
- cabaret
The capacity of each room will vary depending on the setup you choose. Our event planners can advise on room capacities in the various layout styles available.
All our rooms are equipped with a projector or large LCD screen, laptop connectivity, a flipchart and a standard supply of stationery items.
In addition to the standard equipment available in each of our rooms, we have a large selection of equipment available to compliment your event. For example:
- laptops
- flipcharts
- microphones
- digital photography
- video conferencing
All our rooms are fully air-conditioned. We also have both PRS and PPL music licences, which allow the public broadcast of recorded music and video to support your event.
Our event planners can help to arrange any additional equipment you may need.
Hospitality
A full hospitality and catering service is available to compliment your event.
Our event planners will be happy to assist you with your hospitality requirements.
Please note that our catering suppliers require 48 hours’ notice to cancel hospitality requests. Failure to notify us in time may result in you being charged the full cost of any hospitality ordered.
Booking and planning an event
Our bookings and enquiries service is open from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday. You can contact us by email or phone 01792 761497.
You can make an enquiry or book an event through our dedicated team of event planners, who will help you select the best room to suit your needs and discuss your hospitality requirements.
Once your booking is confirmed, you will be allocated a dedicated event planner who will be your single point of contact from preparation to the conclusion of your event.
Should you need to cancel or amend your booking with us for any reason, please inform us immediately. Cancellation charges may apply, please see the terms and conditions on your booking form.
Attending an event
Opening times
Our opening times are 8.30am until 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Weekend and evening bookings are available by prior appointment.
Accessibility
RLDC is wheelchair accessible. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Our events booking team will be happy to discuss your accessibility requirements.
Getting here and parking
Getting to the RLDC
We are a short distance from Junction 45 of the M4, on Upper Fforest Way in Swansea Vale. If you are using a satellite navigation system the post code is SA7 0AN. We are a short taxi ride from both Swansea and Neath railway stations.
When you arrive at RLDC please go to the innovation reception area (as indicated on your booking confirmation), where you will be met by our reception staff.
Car parking
We have 130 on-site bookable car parking spaces. Parking must be booked prior to your event, so please discuss your parking requirements with your event planner.
