DVLA within DfT and DVO
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is the largest agency within the Department for Transport (DfT). The other agencies are the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA), Government and Despatch Agency,(GCDA) Highways Agency (HA) Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).
The DVLA supports delivery of the Department's vision for a transport system that is an engine for economic growth, but one that is also greener and safer and improves quality of life in our communities. The agency uses its data and operations to contribute to road safety improvement, crime reduction and environmental sustainability as well as being responsible for the collection of Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). It also contributes to the delivery of the government's e-services agenda, with electronic vehicle and driver licensing.
