The government is committed to making information protected by Crown copyright available as widely as possible for reuse.

Crown copyright is vested in the Controller of Her Majesty’s Stationery Office (HMSO). It manages and regulates licensing for the reuse of all information produced by Crown bodies.

The controller has authorised government trading funds to license Crown copyright information that they produce on behalf of Her Majesty.

Under the HMSO Information Fair Trader Scheme, each chief executive commits to:

• trade openly, transparently and fairly in Crown copyright information
• ensure that any complaints are investigated thoroughly and equitably
