Reusing DSA's information

DSA licenses the official DSA theory test revision banks and 16 simulated hazard perception test video clips for use by other publishers. DSA material can be published under a Crown Copyright Licence Agreement. This is to ensure appropriate learning material is available to support learner drivers.

DSA also publishes its own official learning materials. However, by allowing the reuse of this copyright material it offers learner drivers more choice.

An Open Government Licence facilitates the reuse of:

  • The Highway Code and traffic signs
  • The National Driving or Riding Standards™ and the syllabus

Copyright infringement

DSA actively encourages the licensed reuse of its material. However, it:

  • will protect it against any unlicensed use
  • constantly monitors the use of its material
  • pursues any case where material has been used without its permission
  • tries to remedy breaches amicably
  • will take any necessary legal action in order to protect Crown copyright

All infringements should be brought to the attention of the DSA’s intellectual property department.

Print and electronic images and photography

DSA has an image library on Flickr, which is free for use by press and news media so long as users acknowledge DSA Crown copyright. Crown copyright licensees should contact the DSA Crown copyright team about re-using these images.

However, DSA does not authorise the reuse of photographs and other images included in its printed publications or on its website of identifiable individuals, particularly children and people from vulnerable groups. Any such images fall outside the scope of the Open Government Licence.

Competition Act 1998

DSA follows an open and transparent system of trading that aims to meet the terms of the Competition Act 1998.
