Consultation on proposed new categories for minor modifications under the Railways Act 2005

This consultation is seeking views on a proposal to make an Order under Section 35(6) of the Railways Act 2005 to make two descriptions of Closure eligible to be treated as minor modification because of their limited effect on the provision of railway passenger services.

Consultation on Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (Amendment) Order 2009

This document seeks views on the Government's proposal that the rate of increase of the UK's Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) should be slowed so that it increases by 0.5% per annum to reach 5% in 2013/14. It also seeks views on the addition of new eligible fuels and longer term issues with regard to the implementation of the Renewable Energy Directive and the Fuel Quality Directive.

Proposed Revised Safeguarding of the Abbey Wood to Gravesend and Hoo Junction Route 2008

This consultation sets out the Government’s proposals to revise the safeguarding of the Abbey Wood to Gravesend and Hoo Junction route as a replacement for the Direction issued by the Secretary of State on the 24 February 2005. The aim of the Safeguarding is to ensure that developments along this rail corridor do not impact on the ability to extend Crossrail in the future.

Consultation on the definition of eligible services for the statutory bus concession in England

The improvements to the statutory minimum concession introduced since 2002, and in particular the introduction of the England-wide concession on 1 April 2008, have meant that the eligible service criteria have come under greater scrutiny. We are consulting on proposals which are intended to remove as much uncertainty as possible and to clarify the existing criteria.

Transposition of EU Rail Passengers Liberalisation Directive and amendment of regulation of HS1

This consultation presents and seeks views on a draft Statutory Instrument to implement Directive 2007/58/EC on the liberalisation of international passenger rail services in Great Britain, and transfer some regulatory responsibilities in relation to rail link facilities from the Secretary of State to the Office of Rail Regulation.
