| Mode/topic: | Roads, Road management |
Summary
We are inviting views on proposals to remove the current need for the Secretary for State to approve local authority applications to run ‘permit schemes’, which enable authorities to better manage street works.
These works are a necessary fact of life and essential to give and support the utility and transport services on which individuals and businesses depend, but they also cause significant disruption to road users and local communities. The Government is determined to cut the adverse impacts of these works.
The consultation will run from 31 January 2012 for 12 weeks closing on 25 April 2012.
