This consultation seeks views on modernising the way we regulate aviation security. Our current system places significant financial burdens on the aviation industry along with inconvenience to passengers, and is not consistent with the Government’s better regulation principles.

These proposals offer a new regime which maintains and improves security standards but in a more efficient and passenger-friendly way.

This consultation will be of most interest to the aviation security industry including airports and airlines.

This consultation closed on the 7 November 2011. Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. We are now considering all responses to produce a summary report which will be published in due course.
