Summary: This document sets out the Government’s proposals for implementing the Nairobi International Convention on the Removal of Wrecks 2007 (ICRW). The purpose of the ICRW is to provide a uniform legal basis for States Parties to locate, mark and remove, or have removed, wrecks which pose a hazard to navigation or the marine environment. The ICRW also contains provisions to assist a State Party in recovering from the shipowner the costs associated with removal of a wreck
