Please note: this consultation closed on 27 February 2008.

This 'postcode search' facility covers the area around Heathrow airport and enables you to find out how changes proposed in the consultation may affect noise levels in your locality.

Please select from the options below and enter your postcode to see how noise levels compare. The noise levels are entered in decibels (dB) and are presented with both a westerly preference and an easterly preference.

Some everyday example noise comparisons are:

  • 57-63dB: A typical business office environment
  • 63-69dB: Conversational speech at 1 metre
  • 69-72dB: Vacuum cleaner at 1 metre
  • Over 72dB: A busy road at 5 metres

The search function only works with postcodes in the following local authority areas:

Bracknell Forest, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Kingston-upon-Thames, Richmond upon Thames, Runnymede, Slough, South Bucks, Spelthorne, Wandsworth, Windsor and Maidenhead.

If you require further information, please contact the call centre on 0845 600 4170 or heathrowconsultation@dft.gsi.gov.uk

Please note this facility is indicative and should be used only as a guide.
