Public Consultation on the Port Security Regulations 2008
These draft regulations and associated consultation papers represent the UK Governments approach to transposing the EC Directive 65/2005 on enhancing port security. The approach takes into account mature security initiatives that pre-exist in the UK port industry, and seeks to meet the requirements of the Directive by developing current structures in a multi-agency context.

Access to air travel for disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility - Code of Practice 2008
The revised 2008 code provides guidance to the aviation industry (travel agents, tour operators, UK airlines, UK airports, designers and ground handling staff) to help them meet the new obligations contained in European Regulation No: 1107/2006 concerning the rights of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air.

Dartford - Thurrock Crossing - Discounted charges for local residents consultation
Consultation on the proposed local discount scheme for residents of Dartford and Thurrock Council areas. The Government is proposing to implement these changes in the Autumn while changing charges at the Crossing (consulted on in December 2006). This order under sections 167, 168, 171 and 172(2) of the Transport Act 2000, will replace the existing charging regime at the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing.

Street Works Qualifications: Training and Accreditation Consultation
This consultation deals with the revision of the Regulations covering the qualifications that are required by law to carry out, or supervise, works in the street. It focuses on the new requirement that those wanting to re-register are reassessed every 5 years and the introduction of two new qualifications for signing, lighting and guarding. These changes should help to improve the quality of work carried out and improve safety standards for workers and the public.

Changes to MOT test fee maximums in the motor vehicle test regulations 1981
These documents propose an increase in the maximum fees that can be levied for 11 classes of MOT test. The proposal is for 5.4% increases in the maxima, largely to cover the effects of inflation over a 2 year period from the last increases up until when the next increases are due. Test stations will still be able to charge less than these maxima. Comments are sought on the suitability of these proposed increases.

Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 3 - Regulatory Signs
Consultation: Chapter 3 of the Traffic Signs Manual (TSM), deals with regulatory signs. This will replace the current edition, published in 1986. The purpose of TSM is to explain to professional users such as local authority traffic engineers and their consultants the correct application of the signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD), currently the 2002 Regulations, SI 2002 No. 3113.

Keeping traffic moving: further consultation on street works
Consultation on Part 4 of the Traffic Management Act 2004. This is the third consultation on revision of regulations on Section 74 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, it focuses on proposed charges for works in non traffic sensitive category 3 and 4, and a mitigated charging proposal. The consultation seeks to identify how many highway authorities currently operate a section 74 overrun charging regime, and how many will introduce one following introduction of the new Regulations.

Amendments to Speed Limiter Regulations of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986
A consultation paper on the proposed amendments to the Speed Limiter Regulations. We are seeking views on the removal of a time-expired ‘savings provision’ affecting goods vehicles first registered between October 2001 and December 2004 with a maximum laden weight of 7.5 tonnes – 12 tonnes. We are also seeking views on the proposal to introduce a permanent exemption, from the requirement to have a speed limiter fitted, for the benefit of HM Prison Service Vans.

Traffic signs regulations and general directions 2002 to enable improved signing of safety cameras
This consultation invites comments on proposed amendments to The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD) relating to safety camera signing. Reflecting its intention of highly visible speed enforcement we introduced a new safety camera signing policy on 1 April 2006. The proposed amendments to TSRGD are required to enable implementation of that policy at some camera sites. The proposed amendments will also enable consistent application of the policy across speed limits.
