Professionals FAQs

How do I get a Bikeability scheme number?

To get a Bikeability scheme number and start awarding Bikeability award materials to those you train you will need to register your cycle training scheme. This involves providing us with information about the training you deliver and how your scheme is managed. Find out more on the Bikeability Registration page.

I’ve trained as a National Standard Instructor, what’s the best way to find work?

Delivering Bikeability means you have the opportunity to enjoy flexible hours, the chance to keep fit and active outdoors and the chance to pass on a new life skill to trainees, making this a rewarding job where every day is different. You can get involved by becoming employed through an existing Bikeability scheme in your local area (many schemes advertise opportunities in the local press, on their website or simply by word of mouth), or by setting up your own scheme and finding exciting new work opportunities independently. As the base of Bikeability instructors continues to grow and grow, the key to any successful scheme is innovation; looking for the best way to reach new trainees to deliver the right level of quality training exactly when and where it is needed.

I’m a National Standard Instructor, why am I not listed on the Bikeability website?

Bikeability registration is a quality assurance process to ensure standards and consistency among National Standard training schemes. The Bikeability website shows only those training schemes that are registered Bikeability schemes.

I’ve completed my instructor training, how can I obtain the Bikeability award materials?

To purchase the Bikeability award materials you need to register your training scheme with Bikeability. Details on how to do so can be found on the Bikeability Registration page.

I’ve made changes to the way I run my scheme or deliver courses. How do I keep Bikeability up to date?

We keep track of all the Bikeability training that goes on around the country to help us make sure that the high standards associated with Bikeability are maintained. We contact all schemes on an annual basis to make sure our records are up to date, but you should let us know of any changes to the way in which you deliver your Bikeability scheme as they happen. Please keep us informed by emailing contactus@bikeability.org.uk or by calling 0800 849 1017.
