Bikeability Registration

Getting your cycle training scheme Bikeability registered couldn’t be simpler. It’s a quality assurance standard that all trainers and schemes can apply for providing they follow the National Standard for Cycle Training and courses are delivered by qualified National Standard Instructors.

The process involves submitting evidence detailing how your course is delivered and the course management polices and procedures that support this. These policies and procedures need to be appropriate to delivering a cycle training course so that any risks to both yourself as a cycle instructor and those you are training are closely managed and mitigated.

Registration checklist

There are different processes for registration depending on the type of organisation you are and how the delivery of training is managed.

If you are not sure about which registration process you should be using then please email contactus@bikeability.org.uk for further guidance.

Local Authorities

Local authorities can deliver cycle training in two main ways.

If your scheme is completely managed and delivered by the local authority then you need to apply for registration using the registration checklist for organisations.

If you are a local authority that outsources all your training to an independent provider, you can still get registered as a Bikeability scheme provided the independent provider you use is also registered. This is done through applying for registration using the registration checklist for third party providers.

If you require any further guidance or advice in relation to the registration process then please email contactus@bikeability.org.uk.

Independent Organisations
If you are part of an organisation that employs more than two individuals you are required to apply for registration using the registration checklist for organisations.

Sole Traders
If you are an individual or working with a partner on a smaller scale you can register by completing the registration checklist for sole traders.
