The Future of Air Transport implementation programme: External advisory group
Terms of reference
Purpose
The purpose of the External Advisory Group is to maintain a formal channel of communication between the Department for Transport and external stakeholders implicated in the Implementation Programme for the Future of Air Transport White Paper.
It will be informed of progress of the programme and will be used as a sounding board to identify, discuss and where possible resolve issues that impact on the programme.
Role and Responsibility
The External Advisory Group is responsible for:
- Reviewing the progress of the programme from a strategic perspective
- Assist DfT to ensure that the views of group members' organisations are taken into account as the Department co-ordinates implementation of the Future of Air Transport White Paper
- Raising issues which group members' organisations may have with elements of the Future of Air Transport White Paper Implementation Programme and progressing issues through to resolution
- Ensuring DfT take key decisions in the light of a well-informed strategic view, though the involvement of constructive criticism from stakeholders beyond the Department
Organisation
The External Advisory Group will be chaired by David McMillan, Director of Civil Aviation, who will convey the views of the External Advisory Group at the Departmental Programme Board.
The External Advisory Group will be held around every 3 months, in line with the timetable of the Departmental Programme Board, and issues requiring discussion at the discretion of the Department.
Agendas will focus on relevant issues from the programme's eight major work areas.
